NEW ALBUM “IN THESE TIMES” OUT NOW!

Posted by giantpandadub on April 10th, 2012

Family and Friends

Our new album In These Times is out today! Get it on iTUNES or AMAZON

This is truly a momentous time in the history of Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad. We know that in these times, there is an overwhelming amount of beautiful and brilliant original music coming out of millions of creative souls around the planet. We are living in a distinctly unique time where so much of it is available to us at our fingertips. The future is amazing. This is a new creative revolution we are experiencing.

In These Times is a milestone album for us because it is the expression of the work that we have done to get us here. For you it is new, but for us it is a reflection. This album had many beginnings and a spirally path. We spent a lot of time in Farmington NY at Hope Alive studios experimenting, working over, and getting to know ourselves in the all too unfamiliar world of the studio.

For so many of our years as a band, we focused on understanding the atmosphere of the live show. How to connect to the energy flow as the setting changed, as the people changed, and as we changed, night after night. The studio was an infinite space. However, what you end up doing in that space lasts an eternity. The recording world is a time traveling, head spinning reality, that engineers have expanded greatly since Edison put that first track to wax just a little over 100 years ago.

If you are reading this message, then you know us. WE LOVE YOU! You have been there for us, and giving us love that we try to put out right back to you. The encouragement is something we can only try to repay with more love, and thus we hope it proliferates into an endless cycle.   Many of these tracks you are probably familiar with. Let it be known that these are THE versions. That was the most important thing to us while recording this album. We love these songs so much, that we really felt the version that lasted needed to be as good as we thought the song was in its infinite form. We could have recorded them many ways, but we settled on these sounds, these tempos, these melodies, and these lyrics. We are very proud of this album and we hope that you feel the love that we poured into it.

So throughout the time you have known us, THIS is what we were trying to get done. We were trying to create this album. To get it out of our bodies and deliver it to you with care so that we can forward onto new musical adventures of more albums, more jams, and more meditations. We want this album to support us and grow legs, because the success of this record will only lead to more music faster.

If you dig it, which we hope you do, there are some things you can all do to help us out:

Word of mouth is what this music thing is all about. It is grassroots. It is about real connection and music is your cultural currency. Be proud of it. Promote it on all avenues. In conversation, on facebook, twitter, the bus stop, the mountain top, the coffee shop. Tell everyone you know who you think will benefit somehow from listening to this music. Tell them they CAN remember the name. They are smart enough.

Rate this album in public places like iTunes and Amazon, and write a short review. This REALLY helps our cause. It takes a few seconds and if everybody who gets this email does it, it will greatly surpass all the ratings we have gotten to date. We can’t stress this enough.

DANCE! Anywhere. Everywhere. In the house, in the car, on the roof, in the lake, at your desk, in the kitchen (especially in the kitchen). Why? Because dancing is great and it is infectious. It is good for the body and it guaranteed will make you a happier person. We make this music for your body. Your mind is part of that, but don’t forget to get up and contort that beautiful organism you feel the world through. This in fact is the most important part of this whole email! DO IT.

Buy our album. It takes money to make money we have always been told, and we have always resented that. We are not in it for the money. This is the 21st century though and entertainers usually get the short end of the stick. Even the best ones. So we try to hustle it but it is not our main motivation. Making music and being irie is. We always just hope it catches on. If you download the album for free, or if we gave it to you, buy it for a friend or get a shirt when we see you. It all helps us keep making music.

Keep coming to the shows! Try to bring 10 friends! You will see it in our faces how happy it makes us when you do. Thank you. Your love is what we seek to soak in.

In These TImes! This is it! We are extremely excited about life. We welcome change and we are loving where we are going. We are looking forward to seeing all of you in the future. Thank you and bless you infinitely.

Respectfully Yours,

PANDA

NEW ALBUM “COUNTRY” OUT TODAY + VIDEO

Posted by giantpandadub on January 31st, 2012

It’s COUNTRY release day! Get our brand new album on iTunes or Amazon

Pick up the CD at Record Archive in Rochester, or at an independent music store near you!

Often in conversations when the question is posed “what kind of music do you like?” people exclaim “everything but country!”. Occasionally after Panda shows people come up to us and say “i don’t like reggae but I love you guys”. Both statements always strike us as strange, but we welcome the conversation. Ditch the genre talk. In this world there is GOOD music and BAD music. We are trying to make the GOOD kind. Of course it’s all subjective, but we do our damnedest to try to make music that will make you feel great and amplify the goodness that is abundant in life. Country and Reggae music are both essentially folk music. The crossovers are endless. In this huge sea of sound there is a variety of GOOD and BAD offerings, as there is in any collection of works you could assign a value of quality to. This new record of ours is also folk music, and this time we are the folks behind it. We appreciate the power of acoustic instruments. They have greatly inspired us in so many different forms and expressions of music that we have been blessed to have around in our lives. We love all sorts of styles but we like to think it all falls under the category of GOOD music. We have many influences and part of the Panda is revealing those to you in our own form. Enjoy this music. Spread it and feed off of it. There is so much more to come. Thank you for letting us be ourselves. RESPECT
